Legislative Intern
At the Development Finance Corporation (DFC), you'll have the chance to make a meaningful impact by driving solutions to critical challenges in the developing world, ranging from climate change, COVID-19, energy poverty, and food insecurity.
About the role:
The Legislative Affairs Pathways Intern will assist with managing DFC's relationship with members and committees of the House and Senate including attending legislative hearings and assisting with various legislative research projects as assigned.
What you'll do:
- Compiles information to determine the status of various program activities. Assists Legislative Affairs staff with research in preparation for Congressional engagements, including phone calls, briefings, and hearings.
- Assists Legislative Affairs Specialists in the completion of forms and maintenance of records or documents related to the work of the office.
- Assist in maintaining Legislative Affairs records and tracking systems.
- Assists with the preparation of materials to inform the Corporation on matters pending before the United States Congress that could affect DFC and its operations. Assists with preparing responses to Congressional policies, requests, and other developments.
- Assists in the writing of letters, talking points and memos for DFC management in both internal and external communication with government officials, Members of Congress, and others. Prepares correspondence as necessary.
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
- Suitability for Federal employment, as determined by a background investigation
- Will be required to serve on a trial period during the duration of the Pathways appointment.
- If you are selected, a written Pathways participant agreement must be signed.
- Must be a current student in college, trade school or other qualifying educational institution.
Applicants may qualify at the GS-04 level, if they fulfill the following qualification requirement:
Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree. Must still be a current active student to qualify.
