Summer Intern

Green Powered Technology, LLC is an energy and engineering consulting firm based in Arlington, Virginia. We were established in 2010 with a vision of employing innovative solutions to sustainably manage the Earth’s resources and to meet society's needs. GPTech offers technical, financing, and private sector engagement expertise, furthering U.S. private sector expansion into emerging markets. We provide comprehensive client services from project inception to completion, by delivering solutions that improve operations and compliance, build institutional capacity, reduce risk, save money, enhance security and help our clients make more informed decisions about their energy and infrastructure investments.
We work across three practices areas, energy, infrastructure and development, to support clients, such as, Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), Millennium Challenge Corporation, and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
 
Green Powered Technology (GPTech) is pleased to offer a 10 to 12-week summer internship program for candidates to work from our Arlington, Virginia, office with limited telework available in support of our Sustainable Energy and Sustainable Infrastructure practice areas. The selected candidates will support current contracts with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), and others, as well as corporate growth efforts for GPTech.

Our internship program offers exposure to business development and project management, while enabling the intern to gain valuable technical skills in a U.S. Government contracting context and the opportunity to work alongside senior professionals. GPTech’s summer intern can expect to:
  • Become familiar with major government entities including, but not limited to, USTDA, USAID, and MCC;
  • Develop an understanding of the U.S. Government business capture management process including proposal development strategies, technical approach development, marketing, partner management, proposal costing, assembly and production;
  • Gain familiarity and provide support on a wide range of technically diverse projects;
  • Gain valuable insight into conducting business as a small federal contracting business; and
  • Become familiar with a wide range of possible career paths by assisting with recruiting efforts and interacting with professionals in various positions across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Specific responsibilities depend on the assigned practice area; general responsibilities include the following:Assist in program management activities, including procurement and recruitment processes, planning and scheduling activities, and internal reporting and budgeting.
  • Assist in preparing and developing infrastructure design and construction quality assurance and quality control documents.
  • Assist in the development of GPTech practice area strategic plans.
  • Identify, review, and support development of new business opportunities.
  • Collect and analyze statistics and information related to clean energy infrastructure and market trends.
  • Research and report on clean energy technology supplier product and performance data.
  • Research and report on developing country energy sector policies, regulation, and industry.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
 
  • Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelor’s program at an accredited university or a recent graduate from a four-year accredited college or university
  • Interested in the sustainable development goals and their application in energy, engineering, and development programs and projects
  • General knowledge of overall international development sector challenges, opportunities, and solutions, including construction, quality, environmental issues, and infrastructure reliability and resiliency
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Professional proficiency with business-oriented software such as MS Office, GSuite, Slack, Box, and Zoho 
  • Fluency in a second language a plus
  • Must have work authorization in the US
  • Ability to work from GPTech’s Arlington, Virginia, office with limited assistance in a remote setting
